Farming

Farming as a way of life…?

Previous generations and unique cultures revere their food and farming systems. Does it really make sense to drive a 50,000 dollar car and then go and ingest a 99 cent hamburger? If our life is sustained by what we eat, shouldn‟t we eat the absolute best we can?

We have struggled with these questions and have chosen our path, which happened to be starting with the simple step of growing food in our back yard. A few years ago we decided to grow the good food that we were enjoying and share it with our neighbors. This has grown into Barefoot Gardens where we still grow food, flowers, and herbs for our growing community of dedicated food lovers. We are working to create a collection of gardens, forming a small circle of mini-ecosystems complementing each other (croplands, riparian zones, permanent pasture & forest) that will support our family, our animals, and our neighbors. We will be building the tilth of the soil and healing the immediate environment while feeding ourselves and others.
